01Understanding the condition

What is an ankle sprain?

A misstep on the field, a bad landing during a jog, a twist while stepping off a curb, just like that, your ankle rolls, and suddenly you’re dealing with a sprain.

An ankle sprain is a soft tissue injury that happens when the ligaments supporting the ankle stretch too far or tear, usually from a sudden roll, twist, or awkward landing. It’s one of the most common sports injuries, especially in activities that involve running, jumping, or quick changes of direction.

At Cavanaugh Chiropractic in Lafayette, we’ve helped plenty of high school athletes, weekend warriors, and everyday movers get back on their feet. Whether your sprain is mild or more severe, we’ll build a plan that supports healing and restores your mobility.
